This, along with the theme from Wives and Lovers by Bacharach, and A Man and A Woman, are my three most favorite songs of the mid-Sixties. Maybe I'll throw in Music to Watch Girls By, for good measure.

I used to go Vinnie's home in Newark and Springfield to him play and do duets. I heard him in gigs with Peter Prisco, Rick Moore, Lee Konitz, Jim Hall, tal farlow, Joe puma or at sessions with Larry Bluth, and others. No one had a sound like him. I think Blanton, Pettiford, and Burke!

This is music. It’s so haunting and beautiful 😢🧡 I thank God my grandfather raised me on this wonderful music-he adored Sinatra. I was born in the wrong era. So thankful his music remains and most definitely will stand the test of time. 🧡 My favorites are mostly the Nelson Riddle arrangements, but I love this Gordon Jenkins arrangement for this song.

The first minute or so of this track was played for several years on the radio show “Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!” from NPR. Loved to hear it every Saturday morning around 10:15am.
